Sofia Franklyn says she’s wealthy and successful in her own right, and only wants to date men who measure up to her strict personal standards of wealth – and height
A young woman has sparked outrage after admitting she insists on seeing a man’s bank details on a first date.
But Sofia Franklyn, 31, denies being a “gold digger” because she’s wealthy and successful in her own right.
Having money in the bank is one of two standards potential suitors must meet to show they’re at the same level as her.
Speaking on her podcast, in a chat with guest Leo Skepi, she confessed that she had demanded to look at one recent date’s online banking, made a screensH๏τ of his balance, and sent it to herself.
“I don’t think it’s weird to ask for that kind of information on a first date,” she insisted.
“I’m not joking,” Sofia said. “I have asked the last three dudes I’ve dated for their bank account info on the first date.”
She says it’s important for her to be sure that whoever she dates has got plenty of cash.
“I only want to date a wealthy guy that has money,” she explained on her Sofia with an F podcast.
Keen to avoid any backlash, Sofia quickly aded: “I fully support all sugar babies around the world, but … I have a job, I’m very successful so I think I have every f*****g right to say, ‘Hi are we on the same level or am I wasting my time?’”
Commenters were largely unimpressed by Sofia’s money fixation. One accused her of having “enтιтlement issues,” and another simply said that asking for bank information was an immediate “red flag”.
“If she’s that hung up on money, but she has to ask,” said X user Sam Parker, “she’s already fishing in the wrong fishing holes”
Another commenter on the social network formerly known as Twitter said Sofia seemed like a “gold digger”.
Someone else joked that Sofia could well be an undercover agent for the taxman.
But Sofia maintains there’s a solid logic behind her financial probing, especially if a man is “under five foot 10”.
She said: “I do that and if they don’t show me I’ll still go on a second or third date but I need to know at a certain point. A lot of people think that’s just crazy of me to do
“I don’t think it’s that crazy . I’m 30 I’m not really trying to just date and f*** around. The next dude I’m with, I don’t even need to marry him.
“I just want him to impregnate me”.
