‘Adult career got me 60million fans on Instagram – but I can’t get a date’

Adult star Mia Khalifa says she got out of a ‘long-ish term’ relationship a few months ago, and sees the dating scene as ‘very tough’, saying it’s been years since she was out there

Mia Khalifa says she struggles with dating despite having millions of fans following her ill-fated porn career.

The former adult star appeared on Diary of a CEO where she lifted the lid on how the three months she spent in the Sєx industry affected her.

And she also told Steven Bartlett: “I’ve been a serial monogamist for a while I got out of a long-term relationship a few months ago.”

Despite having over 60million followers on Instagram, she says “it’s difficult” to find a man.

“It’s difficult but I also haven’t tried,” she added. “I’m… I don’t know what I’m expecting I haven’t gone into the dating world in maybe six years.”

She told Steven that she had had very poor self-esteem as a younger woman, making it easy for her first husband, to “groom” her and persuade her to do things she might not otherwise have done.

Mia continued: “The relationship started when I was 16, and then went until I was about 20. It was about a 10-year age difference.

“I even feel weird calling it a relationship because the dynamic was not one of a relationship – it was more one of someone who saw a toy to play with.”

At the time, she said “I didn’t have a sense of self so I attached myself to someone who was more than happy to abuse that”.

Her ex-husband saw her as “someone easily manipulatable … but at the same time eager to please so yeah it was just the perfect storm…”

But her ex had problems of his own, saying: “They were also unhealthy, they had mental health issues that I don’t know if they’ve ever addressed”.

And she said marrying him was a naive decision. “You ask yourself that question about you know what happens in 10 years time – I wouldn’t have known what happened in a week’s time!” she said.

“I got I got talked into eloping to Las Vegas four days after my 18th birthday so if you asked me where I saw myself in five years…I would have looked at you with doe eyes and said ‘I don’t know’…”.
